30 minutes by phone or video. You tell us where work piles up; we tell you, in plain English, which jobs AI and automation could realistically take on. You’ll leave with two or three specific ideas – whether or not you work with us.
Turn “we should do something with AI” into real changes inside your business in 90 days.
We’re an AI consultancy for busy, real-world small businesses across the UK. We find where time is being wasted, build practical business automations on top of the systems you already use, and keep improving them on a monthly retainer – so every department feels the benefit, not just the tech team.
Three steps. No big transformation project.
Good AI consulting starts with how your business runs today. Then we use AI and automation to take the repetitive work off your team’s plate – without ripping out what already works.
We pick one high-impact job – say, contact form → inbox → your systems → daily summary – then build and test it with the people who’ll actually use it.
Instead of one big project that goes stale, we keep improving things month by month – like having an in-house AI developer, without the full-time salary.
- New enquiry Someone fills in the form on your website.
- AI reads it Pulls out the details, sorts it and drafts a reply.
- Your systems Added to your CRM or spreadsheet, with a task created.
- You’re up to speed A daily summary lands in your inbox.
- Invoice arrives A supplier emails over a PDF invoice.
- AI reads it Picks out the supplier, amounts, VAT and due date.
- Into your accounts Drafted in your accounts software and matched to the order.
- Ready to approve You check it and approve – no retyping.
- Call ends You finish a call with a customer or supplier.
- AI transcribes it A written record of the whole conversation.
- AI summarises it Key points, decisions and next steps pulled out.
- Saved and actioned Notes on the customer record, tasks created, follow-up email drafted.
Three decades of IT, now focused on getting AI out of the slide deck and into the day job.
Servers, networks, websites, tills, online payments, automation platforms, and now AI – the constant has always been the same: businesses just want their systems to talk to each other.
Founder
AI Told You So is a UK AI consultancy led by Steve Hunter, with 30 years of hands-on IT experience – wiring together everything from on-prem kit and phone systems to websites, EPOS, accounts, CRMs and automation tools.
That means we’re comfortable in the detail: logins, integrations, APIs, data flows and error logs – the things that have to behave if AI is going to be trusted in a real business.
Soon, everything will come with a line like “AI told me so.” We’d rather you heard it from a human first – someone who explains it in plain English, builds it properly, and picks up the phone when you need them.
The AI does the heavy lifting. A real person makes sure it works.
Once the first build is live, we keep things moving.
Ongoing AI and automation support on a simple monthly retainer, sized to your business. We’ll talk budget and scope on the discovery call – the aim is something that feels like good value and is easy to justify.
How a typical month works
- Focus. We agree a monthly allocation (for example, a day a month) and pick the 2–3 changes that matter most.
- Build. We build and test them – automations, integrations, small apps or reporting tweaks.
- Review. We look at what changed and what worked, and adjust next month’s plan.
- Repeat. Month by month, the business gets calmer and more predictable.
“Is this just another thing we’ll start and never finish?”
Fair question. Here are honest answers to the things most owners think, but don’t always say out loud.
“We’re not a tech company. Is this overkill?”
Most of the businesses we work with wouldn’t call themselves “techy”. They run on email, spreadsheets, tills, accounts and a handful of online tools – exactly where automation quietly removes friction.
“Do we have to switch all our systems?”
No. We start with what you already use and only suggest new tools when there’s a clear win. Most of the value comes from getting your existing systems talking to each other.
“Is this going to freak staff out?”
We explain what’s changing, why, and where the boundaries are – and we ask your team what’s working, so they feel involved, not replaced.
“Can we just start small and see?”
Yes – that’s the whole point. Start with one important job, prove the value, then decide together whether a retainer makes sense.
Tell us where work keeps getting stuck. We’ll show you what AI can realistically do about it.
Request a free 30-minute discovery call and you’ll come away with one of three things: a sensible first automation to build, a suggestion for a retainer, or an honest “not yet” with a few things to tighten up first.
